Custom Slotted Internally & Externally Threaded Studs

Custom Slotted Internally & Externally Threaded Studs
We supply five different size configurations of these custom slotted internally & externally threaded studs to our construction customer.  45K plain steel material is used to produce the parts, with plain and light oil finish.  This specific slotted stud incorporates 1/4-20 internal thread and 1/2-13 external thread.  Both sides are slotted and an extended outer chamfer is required on one side to allow easier installation and removal in the application.  While the different variations have other external thread diameters and length they share the same 1/4-20 internal thread requirement.

Custom 316 Stainless Captive Shoulder Screws - M4-0.7 Thread

Custom 316 Stainless Captive Shoulder Screws - M4-0.7 Thread
These custom 316 stainless captive shoulder screws were manufactured domestically with plain finish.  The captive shoulder area measured 2.94MM X 12MM +/-.005" and the M4-0.7 thread covered 8MM of the overall length.  Slotted pan head was incorporated per standard IFI dimensions.  The metric thread on these parts was cut rather than rolled.

Custom Precision Dowel Pins In 18-8 Stainless Steel Material

Custom Precision Dowel Pins In 18-8 Stainless Steel Material
We had 3,200 pieces of these custom precision dowel pins made domestically for our medical device customer using 18-8 stainless steel material with plain finish.  Overall length was set to .240" +/- .005" and the diameter was set to .092" +/-.005".  These were relatively simple parts and the lead time was much faster than the more involved parts that require a special finish.  Full certs were provided with the parts.

Custom Captive Shoulder Screws - 18-8 Stainless Steel Material

Custom Captive Shoulder Screws - 18-8 Stainless Steel Material

These custom captive shoulder screws were manufactured using a modification to a COTS part for our defense customer using 18-8 stainless steel material with standard 2-56 3A thread and standard socket head dimensions.  Length underneath the head was designed to .750" +/- .005" and the shoulder was turned to a diameter of .052-.054", at a length of .066" +/- .005".  The thread had to be chased for each part to ensure smooth thread transitions after the additional shoulder was incorporated.

Custom 4140 Precision 10-24 Nuts - AISI 4140 Material With Plain Finish

Custom 4140 Precision 10-24 Nuts - AISI 4140 Material With Plain Finish

We supplied our defense customer with these custom 4140 precision 10-24 nuts after getting an initial sample run completed and tested. Tight tolerances were required on these parts, with most dimensions at +.000/-.005 or +.000/-.003 inches. Overall thickness of the nuts was set at .155" and 10-24 class 2B thread tapped all the way through. Full production of this part was at 20,000 pieces and lead time at approximately 75-90 days from order confirmation.

Custom 17-4PH Double Shoulder Bolts - Hex Socket Drive With 5/16-24 Thread

Custom 17-4PH Double Shoulder Bolts - Hex Socket Drive With 5/16-24 Thread
We supplied our aerospace customer 200 pieces of these custom 17-4PH double shoulder bolts. 17-4 PH material heat treated to condition H1100 was used for the domestic production of these parts, with resulting hardness between 34 and 36 HRC. Passivation per QQ-P-35 was performed to complete the production process. The hex socket drive was cold headed and the 5/16-24 thread rolled per customer requirements. Full certs were provided with the shipments.

Custom 316 Stainless Steel Shoulder Screws - 4-40 X 1

Custom 316 Stainless Steel Shoulder Screws - 4-40 X 1

We had a small batch of these custom 316 stainless steel shoulder screws produced domestically for our electronics OEM customer. Partial 4-40 thread was incorporated, with a machined shoulder incorporated per our customer specifications. Due to the smaller quantity involved the hex socket drive was broached rather than cold headed - you can see the slight rough nature of the drive when zooming into the photo. The lead time for these parts was relatively fast, with 2-3 weeks for production.

Custom Slotted Round Metric Screws - M7 X 1.0 X 34.5MM In Mild Steel With Black Oxide

These custom slotted round metric screws were manufactured using a cold heading process mild steel material, finished with a black oxide treatment. 90-92 degree angle was incorporated underneath the head, which had an outside diameter of 13.37MM-13.80MM and overall height of 5.15MM max inclusive of the undercut portion. Full M7 X 1.0M thread was rolled to a 6G thread fit. The slotted drive was designed to 1.81MM-2.06MM width and depth of 2.5MM at minimum. Our internal part number for this custom metric machine screw is MMSO-07035-F.

Custom Long 316 Stainless Steel Screws - 8-32 X 3 Socket Head Cap Screws

Custom Long 316 Stainless Steel Screws - 8-32 X 3 Socket Head Cap Screws
These are custom long 316 stainless steel screws at 8-32 X 3 in dimensions, manufactured domestically at a small batch of approximately 40 pieces.  The parts were completed in a relatively quick turnaround time-frame of approximately 4 weeks from order, especially considering the holiday timing.  To allow for the small quantity and speed the hex socket drive was broached instead of using a cold headed approach.  You can see evidence of this at the inside of the recess drive where you would see machining marks instead of the typical clean concave interior seen in cold headed parts.  The partial thread was also cut rather than rolled to allow for the short production run option.
