Custom Locating Dowel Pins For Gear Units

 

We had 500 pieces of these large custom locating dowel pins manufactured domestically in alloy steel material, with heat treat to achieve 47-58 HRC core hardness.  The original drawings were fairly aged and it was difficult to figure out how the transition point between the round and hex portions of the pins should be formed.  We ended up producing samples with two different alternative interpretations and allow the customer to test for the ideal option pictured here.  The round portion of the pin has a diameter of .625" + .0003"/-0" while the hex portion across the flats had to meet .7497 +.0002"/-0".  Overall length was set to 1.4375".  Full certs with FAIR were available with the parts.

Custom Hardened Dowel Pins - SAE 52100 Steel Material

 

We supplied our automotive manufacturing customer these custom hardened dowel pins in SAE 52100 steel material, heat treated to reach 81.0 - 83.5 HRA.  The diameter was ground to 7.000MM +/- .005MM and the length was set to 32.0MM +/- 0.2MM.  The pins were manufactured domestically in the USA and full certs were provided with the shipment.  

Custom Precision Dowel Pins In 18-8 Stainless Steel Material

We had 3,200 pieces of these custom precision dowel pins made domestically for our medical device customer using 18-8 stainless steel material with plain finish.  Overall length was set to .240" +/- .005" and the diameter was set to .092" +/-.005".  These were relatively simple parts and the lead time was much faster than the more involved parts that require a special finish.  Full certs were provided with the parts.

Custom 17-4PH Dowel Pins - 5MM X 22.8MM In DFARS 17-4PH Material

These custom 17-4PH dowel pins were manufactured domestically at 6,000 pieces.  DFARS 17-4PH stainless steel material was used, per AMS5622 with H900 heat treatment required.  Overall length was 22.8MM +0/-.4 and the critical diameter of the pins measured 5MM +0/-.013.  Our internal part number for this custom dowel pin is 12901978 and typical lead time is 12-14 weeks from order confirmation.

Custom 52100 Dowel Pins - 7MM X 32MM

These custom 52100 dowel pins were fairly ordinary in dimensional requirements but the material was quite tricky and time intensive to procure.  C-52100 DFARS material per S5452100-22810A specification was used with 91.5 ksi tensile strength.  Heat treatment was performed to achieve hardness of 81-83.5 HRA per customer requirements.  Material certs and a certificate of conformance was provided with the parts and all production processes were done domestically in the USA.

Custom Metric Dowel Pins - M8 X 35MM In Alloy Steel With One Side Tapped With M4 X 0.7M Thread

These are custom metric dowel pins we supply to our long time electronics OEM customer.  They are made using alloy steel at M8 X 35MM and are tapped on one side each for M4 X 0.7M thread.  The thread depth is set at 3MM and the other side is left untouched.  These custom dowel pins are manufactured domestically with a lead time of 6-8 weeks.

Custom Shoulder Pins In Grade 2 Steel With Zinc Finish - 5/16 X 13/16 Shoulder

These are custom shoulder pins made using grade 2 steel material with zinc finish, manufactured overseas in Taiwan at approximately 100,000 pieces.  We supply them to our long time OEM customer on revolving 12 month blanket purchase orders, delivering parts as they need them.  The shoulder was maintained at 5/16 X 13/16".  Lead time for the initial lead time was 120-150 days, which is fairly typical for overseas parts with ocean freight.

Precision Custom Stainless Steel Dowel Pins - .1160 X .625 Made to Customer's Drawing

This is a small batch of custom stainless steel dowel pins manufactured domestically in the USA at just 36 pieces.  303 stainless steel was used and the custom dowel pins measure .1160 at the diameter by .625 inches in length.  The diameter was the most critical dimension with a tolerance of +/-.0001".  Both sides were chamfered at .010 X 45 degrees and +/-.005 tolerance was called for on the length.  We were able to get production completed and parts shipped in less than 2 weeks from order confirmation.

Custom Stainless Aerospace Pins - One Side Chamfered In Stainless Steel Material

These are custom stainless aerospace pins we supply on a production to order basis.  Only one side is chamfered to the customer's requirements and the custom parts are run through passivation prior to shipment.  They measure .310 at the diameter and 3" +/.02 in length.  To the customer's specifications, these custom pins are manufactured in the United States and material certs are available upon request.

Special Dowel Pin to Print In 303 Stainless Steel

We supply a wide range of special pins in materials varying from PVDF to 303 stainless steel like these special to print 3/16 X 7/16 dowel pins.  This pin has been provided to our customer using the same trusted factory for over five years.
