The production of these custom long compression springs in 17-7PH material was run at a relatively small batch of only 25 pieces. 17-7PH material was used per AMS 5678 and all production work was done domestically with all secondary processes done with NADCAP certified facilities. A first article inspection report (FAIR) was provided as well with the parts together with all other certs. .060 +/-.0015" diameter wire was used to make this part and the ID/OD was set to .78"/.90". Parts were passivated per AMS 2700, method 1, type 2 or 8 with full certs to complete the production process spanning approximately 7-8 weeks from start.
These custom precision steel pins were manufactured domestically for our customer involved in water treatment product manufacturing. 1018 CRS material was used with plain finish. The drive-less head measures .060" in height and .290" for the diameter, +/-.005". The shoulder portion was the most critical with a diameter of .195" +/- .001" and a slight 45 deg by .02" chamfer. Overall length of the shoulder shaft was set to .460". Production is typically done at 5,000 pieces at a time.
Production of these custom internally and externally threaded studs was run at approximately 10,000 pieces, in medium carbon grade 5 equivalent steel material. The specific hardness requirement was set to 25-35 HRC. The custom threaded studs had an overall length of .75" +/.02" with a 45-50 degree tapered point on one side. Slotted drives were incorporated at both sides for optimal flexibility in our customer's application. 1/2-13 thread was rolled on the outside and 1/4-20 thread tapped all the way through.
These custom 17-4PH dowel pins were manufactured domestically at 6,000 pieces. DFARS 17-4PH stainless steel material was used, per AMS5622 with H900 heat treatment required. Overall length was 22.8MM +0/-.4 and the critical diameter of the pins measured 5MM +0/-.013. Our internal part number for this custom dowel pin is 12901978 and typical lead time is 12-14 weeks from order confirmation.
These custom flange nuts were manufactured domestically using 17-4PH stainless steel material with 10-24 internal thread. Overall height of the flange nut was .19" +/-.01" and the diameter of the flange was a critical dimension at .330" +.000/-.015". The hex was set to .250" +.000/-.005" across the flats. Our internal part number is NRNS-10-117-4 and typical lead time for full production is 6-8 weeks from order confirmation.
These custom binding posts were manufactured using 316 stainless steel material, with 3/8 coarse internal thread tapped as close to the head as possible and a T30 drive cold headed all the way through. The head diameter is 1.13" head height at .19" +/- .01". The shoulder outside diameter is set to .63" and measures .75" in length, with both dimensions also limited to a +/-.01" tolerance. 4340 alloy steel material was also considered as an alternative, offering greater strength when heat treated than the 316 stainless steel material version pictured here.
These custom low head slotted machine screws were manufactured domestically using 12L14 steel material and then run through a commercial black oxide process. Length under the head was set at .375" +/-.03", fully threaded with 8-32 thread pitch. The head height was set at .055", diameter at .265", slot width at .05", and slot depth at .042". Our internal part number for this item is MSF-0806-AF and while lead time varies quite a bit depending on production volume required, we typically budget 6-8 weeks from order confirmation.
These custom matched metallic silver painted machine screws are supplied to our long time customer in annual quantities of approx. 150,000 pieces using a revolving blanket purchase order. A standard off the shelf 18-8 stainless steel 10-24 X 1 machine screw is used, which is typically manufactured in Taiwan or mainland China, and the painting and sealing of the heads is done domestically in the USA to maintain the desired finish quality. Typical lead time for this type of painting work is 4-5 weeks from the placement of order.

Max load is 26.667 pounds and the max deflection is set at .015. Parts had to be vacuum aged for 2 hours at 600 degrees to complete the production process.
