Some years ago our customer approached us with the task of creating this self piercing screw for a specialized assembly application. It has since become a consistent item we carry to ensure adequate supply for their need at all times. The part is a modified truss head self tapping type A screw, with a phillips drive. Measuring 9-9 X 1-5/8 in length this part is a special screw manufactured to print using 18-8 stainless steel, followed by a passivation process.

Flanged bronze bearing SAE 841 part made to print as a matching component to the 7/8 X .540 X 3/4-16 socket shoulder bolt. It's inside diameter is 7/8" and outside diameter measures 1-1/8". The inside surface area is intended to join with the shoulder of the bolt.
This custom shoulder bolt was made to print for our customer and measures 7/8 X .540 X 3/4-16. 18-8 stainless steel was used to produce the parts at a domestic US manufacturing plant. It was intended to work in unison with the flanged bronze bearing manufactured to print for the same customer. That part is shown in greater detail in the consequent blog post.

This is a special to print screw manufactured in the United States, with full dimensions at 4/40 X 3/16. The parts were made using steel material with nickel plating secondary service, as well as nylon patch application per customer's specifications.

We were presented with the challenge of having custom 12 socket cap screws made out of Invar 36 material to a provided print in a relatively short period of time, which is essentially a 36% nickel iron alloy material, with matching finished hex nuts. This material is typically used for applications where dimensional properties must be maintained across a broad range of temperatures. We were able to have the parts produced and delivered within 3 weeks of order date. While in this specific case no certifications were required, various documentation would have been available to the customer if requested and required.
