These custom 316 stainless tapered head screws turned out to be a very tricky part - while the 10-13 thread and gimlet point were easy to incorporate, the custom head was a tough problem to solve. A 10 degree taper was required on the hex flats and the corners rounded. A rounded profile on a vertical cross-section of the head was also required to allow the screw to rotate while still maintaining hex head engagement. It took three rounds of tooling to finally get the head shape just right and fit the application requirements our customer desired. Domestic production of this part was set at 50,000 pcs with a lead time of 8-12 weeks.
