Custom Knurled Nylon Insert Lock Nuts

 

These custom knurled nylon insert lock nuts were manufactured using SAE J995 class 8 material with zinc clear finish.  3/8-24 internal thread was incorporated with a 45 degree chamfer and a .551-.562 across the flats hex was formed over the nylon insert.  Overall length measured at .519 +/-.03" and the knurled portion measured approximately .34" in length.  This was a tricky part to tool for and to produce - it took us two sample runs to finally get everything dialed in.

Custom Large Stainless Steel Pins

 

We had approximately 10,000 pieces of these custom large stainless steel pins manufactured for a customer installation in Italy.  303 stainless steel was used for production and the pins measured .249" in diameter by 5" in overall length.  A slight 45 degree chamfer was added on both sides to remove any sharp edges.  This was a relatively simple part but needed to be manufactured quickly with all delivery to Italy within 75 days from order.

Custom Partial Thread Socket Shoulder Bolts

 

These custom partial thread socket shoulder bolts were manufactured for our automotive customer using 18-8 stainless steel material and cold formed 3/16 hex socket drive.  Approximately .50" of 5/16-18 thread was incorporated and the shoulder measured .312" in diameter at 1.25" in length.  The threaded section was turned down prior to thread roll operation.  

Custom Low Hex Head Grade 5 Bolts - 5/8-11 X 1

 

These custom low hex head grade 5 bolts were manufactured at 30,000 pieces for our long time customer, with zinc clear finish.  Fully threaded with 1" of 5/8-11 thread pitch these parts came with a low hex head measuring .291-.316" in height and .922-.936" across the flats.  A 15-30 degree standard chamfer was added around the corners and flats.  The narrow head height was critical for the tight constraints in our customer's assembly application.

Custom 8740 Chrome Moly Slotted Bolts - CAD Plated

 

These custom 8740 chrome moly slotted bolts were manufactured domestically in the USA for our aerospace customer, intended to offer min 160,000 psi tensile strength.  10-32 UNF 3A thread was incorporated and overall screw length underneath the head is .746 +.015/-.015".  A channel was formed at the bottom of the head to allow for an O-ring to be applied, allowing for a sealing screw application.  Full certs were provided with the parts per our customer's requirements.

Custom Stainless Vented Pins - 303 Stainless Steel

 These custom stainless vented pins were manufactured domestically using 303 stainless steel material and measure .393" +/-.01 in overall length with 3/8-24 partial thread.  They are fully vented with an ID of .124 +.002/-.000.  A slotted drive (.03" across) was incorporated on the threaded side and the parts were completed with a passivated finish per MIL QQ-P-35 Type II.  Full certs were provided with the parts to comply with our customer's requirements.  

Custom 8740 Steel Phil Flat NSN-53505-01-093-0290 & NSN-5305-01-093-2450 Screws

 

We provided our aerospace customer two variations of these custom 8740 steel phil flat screws, made using 8740 material per MIL-S-6049 with cadmium plating per QQ-P-416 Type I Class 2.  NSN-53505-01-093-0290 measured 10-32 X .713" while NSN-5305-01-093-2450 measured 10-32 X .837".  Both parts were manufactured domestically with full certs.  

Custom Extended Dog Point Set Screws

 

These custom extended dog point set screws were manufactured using 4140 alloy steel material with zinc clear finish.  6-32 thread was rolled at .150" in length and a 1/16" hex socket drive was incorporated.  Overall length measured .45" and the dog point diameter was set to .097 +/- .001".  Production lead time was 12 weeks from confirmed order and full certs were available upon request.

Custom Internally Threaded Square Pins - 12L14 Steel Material

 

These custom internally threaded square pins were manufactured using 12L14 square bar stock material - sharp corners were absolutely critical and initial trial runs with alternative material options were unsuccessful until we finally found square bar material measuring very close to .69" across the corners.  The sharp corners allow the pins to lock at the remaining .14" long shoulder seen on the parts.  Both machined sides of the pins tightly fit into mating parts in the assembly.  Production was done at 25,000 pieces, with overall length at 2.25" and 1/4-20 internal thread on one side.  

Custom Invar 36 Socket Head Screws - 10-32 X 2"

 

These custom invar 36 socket head screws were manufactured domestically for University of Rochester with a broached socket drive for faster turnaround.  Invar 36 material is typically used in applications where dimensional changes must be limited or minimized in extreme temperature variations - thermal expansion is at a fraction of the typical carbon steels.  We have provided a number of parts in this material and often the socket head bolts incorporate a vent across the full length the part as well, depending on the exact application.  Full certs were provided with the parts.
