Custom DFARS 316 Stainless Steel Screws

 

These custom DFARS 316 stainless steel screws were manufactured domestically with plain finish for our marine unmanned vehicle manufacturing customer.  The two sizes shown here are 8-32 X 7/18 and 10-32 X 5/8, both fully threaded.  The hex socket drive is broached on both sizes for fast turnaround - cold headed version provides better cost per piece but requires a longer lead time.  Full certs were provided with the parts.

Custom Domestic Alloy Steel Socket Head Screws - 10-32 X 1-3/8

 

These custom domestic alloy steel socket head screws were manufactured domestically for our customer that needed DFARS compliant 10-32 X 1-3/8 parts.  4140 alloy steel material was used, heat treated to Rc 37-44 and finished with black oxide.  All dimensions were per IFI standard and full certs were included with the parts.

Custom Full Thread Hanger Bolts - 5/16-18 Thread

 

We had 100,000 pieces of these custom full thread hanger bolts produced in grade 5 steel material per SAE J429 with zinc clear finish.  The overall length was at 3-1/2 inches with 1-1/2 inches of 5/16-18 machine screw thread.  The balance was rolled with 5/16-9 wood screw thread.  No unthreaded shoulder was incorporated with the parts per our customer's drawing requirements.  

Custom Long 316 Stainless Steel Screws

 

These custom long 316 stainless steel screws were manufactured domestically using a broached socket drive and cut threads to allow for the fast production turnaround required on the project.  The 316 stainless steel raw material was required to be DFARS compliant.  8-32 thread was incorporated at a length of approximately 1-1/8" and overall length underneath the head is 6".  All dimensions outside of the thread length were done per standard IFI dimensions.  Full certs were provided with the parts per customer request.  

Custom Hex Automotive Ball Studs - Zinc Yellow Finish

 

We had 25,000 pieces of these custom automotive ball studs produced in 1215 steel material with heat treat hardening to 25-34 HRC and zinc yellow finish.  The across the flats dimension on this ball stud was set to measure .311 +/-.01".  Overall length measured .975" with the 1/4-28 thread taking up approximately .400".  We supply this ball stud on revolving annual blanket order basis with the initial production lead time at 4-5 months from order confirmation.

Custom Mild Steel Washers - Plain Finish

 

These custom mild steel washers were manufactured with plain finish to work on a T-bolt and nut assembly for an agricultural equipment application.  Medium steel material was used for additional strength and the inside diameter set to .406" +/-.015" to fit over 3/8-20 thread on the bolt.  The outside diameter was set to .815" +/- .015" and thickness set to .086"-.132".  Full certs were made available with the parts and.

Custom Stainless Shoulder Captive Screws - Cold Drawn 303 SS

 

These custom stainless shoulder captive screws were manufactured using cold drawn stainless steel bar stock material with a cold headed head and drive.  6-32 thread was incorporated at 5mm +/- 0.5, with a lead in chamfer per print.  The head was made to 8mm in diameter and 1.5mm in height, with the step shoulder measuring 3.6 in diameter by 2mm in length.  The long captive shoulder was set to 2.3mm +0/-0.2 diameter.  Overall length is 31.5mm and the head featured a #2 phillips drive.

Custom Knurled Slotted Thumb Screws - Steel Zinc Material

 

These custom knurled slotted thumb screws were manufactured at 5,000 pieces using low carbon steel material with zinc clear finish.  6-32 thread was incorporated at .375" length underneath the head.  Knurled head diameter was set to .313" and head height to .188".  The slotted drive was .035" +/-.005" deep and .045" +/-.005" wide.  Our customer used these custom screws in their electronics assembly process.  Full certs were made available to our customer upon request.

Custom Grade 5 Hex Nuts - SAE J995 Steel

 

These custom grade 5 hex nuts were manufactured using SAE J995 steel material for an agricultural equipment operator, with black oxide finish.  Width across the flats was set to .551-.563" and the height was specified at .401-.402".  The internal thread pitch was the oddest part for the custom nut, with a 3/8-20 pitch and 2B thread fit.  Full certs were provided with the parts.  

Custom 4340 Alloy Steel Dowel Pins - Aerospace Applications

 

These custom 4340 alloy steel dowel pins were produced domestically at a bit over 3,000 pieces for an aerospace application.  The raw material was to be per AMS 6414 or AMS 6409 and the pins measure .1179 +0.0000/-.0004 by .400 +/- .0030.  Full certs were provided with the material, including material certs, certificate of conformance, and a FAIR.  Parts were released over a 12 month period using a blanket purchase order agreement.
